San Diego Beer Week has kicked off and is already in full swing throughout the county. Last night was barrel-aged and rare craft beer night at Pizza Port in OB (Ocean Beach), San Diego, CA. Talk about a lineup of brews! They featured an extremely impressive selection that included a number of their own beers, and a wide selection of rare guest beers such as: Firestone’s XVIII Anniversary Ale, Black Xantus from Humboldt Brewing Company, and a number of brews from The Lost Abbey that included Bourbon Barrel-Aged Angel’s Share, Track #10, and the one I opted for, Track #8. Wow. A 13.7% whopper of a quad that had a nice dose of cinnamon, some back end chili peppers, a hint of vanilla, and a complexity that is tough to beat. Poured into a tulip, this beast of a brew is sure to knock your socks off and leave you craving it for days to come.
Lots of Tasty Grog at Pizza Port OB
Pizza Port is without a doubt one of my favorite places in all of San Diego County; and it’s not just because they are right down the street from my place. Their own beers are always top-notch, and there’s no question that you will find something that will suit your taste. Some of their seasonal IPA’s are world-class and I would put them up against any beer I’ve ever had. It’s a great place to go, bring the family if you would like, and chill out in OB for the afternoon or evening. Don’t be afraid to share a community table with some strangers, soak up the beach town vibes, and toss back one of the local brews. Trust me…this place will not disappoint. It most definitely is…one of the Hoppiest Places on Earth!
